It feels like Christmas-Part 2
The second half of JJ’s first birthday photo shoot included his family. JJ, Mom, Dad, and big sister Emma trekked down to the beach for some fun and Christmas photos. I love how both kids dressed, it got me in the mood for the upcoming holiday season. Emma brought along her Minnie Mouse doll, who I learned is treated like another member of the family. Emma does not leave home without her. She didn’t make it into any blog photos but her presence was felt throughout the shoot. The photos under the pier were my favorite this year. Emma and JJ chased each other around the beams and when JJ did finally catch up to Emma the laughter amongst both was contagious.
A Family Affair
Even the dog cooperated during this shoot with our friend Kathryn and her family. It is not often, especially with animals that every portrait turns out more beautiful than the next. The backyard was a perfect setting for this session. Plush trees, grass, fountains, a deck, and some great architecture created a great backdrop for this family. Kathryn and her family had gotten together particularly for this photo session because their oldest son is moving to New York to pursue an artist’s internship. Before the family begins a new chapter in life with a sibling who lives far away they thought it best to have a portrait taken of who they are as a whole family now. In my eyes you are a beautiful and loving family. Good luck in all of your endeavors.
Table Rock Time!
We spent the weekend down at Table Rock Beach in Laguna Beach with the Aase boys! Their family has been coming to Belle Amie Studios since they were babies. To see familiar faces year after year is the best part of being a photographer. I love seeing how much the children and family has grown over the course of a year. The boys personalities were joyous for they are both at ages where life is still just one big playground. The boys were holding hands and making each other laugh. Smiles, laughter, and silly faces were not hard to come by.
Copper Family at Crystal Cove
The Coopers have been coming to Belle Amie Studios for years. This time around we spent our session at Crystal Cove Beach. I love these two little girls. Don’t they almost look like they are from another era or time? They have such a unique look to them, one I can’t really but my finger on. Both parents hail from Europe and I love to hear them speak to each other. I thought it was fitting (and very European) that the girls were itching to be in their birthday suits by the end of the session. Who am I to object?
The Wedge and some sand…it’s not what you’re thinking!
I love to be able to start in studio and them move on location. Studio time tends to be the warm up for the session and then the craziness ensues on location.
First on our agenda today was pictures of the Johnson family at Belle Amie Studios. Check. Next head over the the Wedge for some family fun. Check. Nice weather. Check. Get wet. Check. Laugh. Check check. We all had a great time.
Shelly and her husband are awaiting their second child and decided before things got to hectic to enjoy a day with me out at the beach with their 13 month old son, Cayden. Cayden was a huge fan of the sand, I think we even captured a few images of him eating the sand. That can’t be too good! I’m sure this would be the perfect thing to teach your new baby brother or sister.
Laguna Beach Summer Photo Sessions
This beach shoot was filled with such beautiful water and sunlight. I love the golden days of summer, taking pictures in Laguna Beach, California. How lucky we are to live in such a beautiful world, and how great that I get to take photos of beautiful people. It’s really the very best job in the world.
All American Kids Photo Shoot
Every year this dedicated mom books us for a shoot to photograph Jordan and Jacob for their albums. Both kids have their very own photo album that she adds a page or two to around the same time each year. We have done photos in the studio, at the Mission in San Juan Capistrano, and Back Bay. This year mom decided to commemorate the kids favorite activities, the scouts and for Jordan, ballet. These photos remind me of old Norman Rockwell paintings, when life was simple and sweet.
Capri and Sienna Photos
These two beautiful girls have been coming to the studio since before they were born. Mommy found us when she was pregnant with big sister, and since then we have done lots of shoots for this Newport family. My favorite shot is mom, dad, and the girls all looking at each other. At first, Sienna didn’t want us to go near “her baby.” She is turning out to be a great big sister.
Belly Laughs in The Photo Studio
Here is about the cutest little girl I have ever seen. She is about to become a big sister. Mom took these photos as a surprise for her husband for Father’s Day. What a great gift!
Beautiful Back Bay Photo Session
Back Bay, in Newport Beach, is the perfect backdrop for all types of photography year round. These were done in late Spring so there are still plenty of flowers in bloom. In Summer we see lots of browns and golds, then in winter the green’s just come alive. My favorites season to shoot in Back Bay is the Spring. All of the flowers come out and it creates a little bit of heaven for photographers.

Welcome to the Willsie family, meet Amy and Dan and their two adorable boys Davis and Wyatt. There’s lots of brotherly love between these two youngsters, and this happy family is always so fun to photograph. I always look forward to their shoots and the laughter and smiles of the family.
